Baby Shower Invitation Wording
Planning for a baby shower is a very exciting event in anyone’s life, especially if it is for a first baby. As well as arranging the location and the food and entertainment, it is quite a big task to decide who should be on the guest list, making sure that no one is forgotten.
Once the list if made, then comes the exciting part of designing the baby shower invitations. There are many aspects to consider when making these up. Firstly, are they going to be emailed, or printed? And if they are printed, will this be on thick white card, or thin coloured card?
Then there is the choice of which font to use and how large or small the lettering is going to be. Will this be in bold or italics? Or will the font have more of a rigid look or be more cursive in appearance? Font colours also play a part in making a baby shower invitation look great.
Perhaps one of the most important aspects of a baby shower invitation wording is the choice or words. There are definite words that should be included, and there are words that could be considered optional.
To get you started, here is a list of the definite words to be included:
The mother’s name or (both parents), and also the baby’s name, if one has been chosen.- The gender of the baby (if known)
- The date the baby shower will be held
- What time it will start and stop (approximately)
- Where it is going to be held, and instructions on how to get there
- The method you want for people to make their responses ( RSVP), whether by phone, email, text or Facebook.
- The phone number, email address and Facebook event you want people to respond to
- The gift registry the mother has joined (if any)
- What gifts are preferred, whether they relate to play time, bath time, going out time
- A small inspirational poem or verse
- Anything you would like your guests to bring, as part of the games you might be organising
With these in mind, here is a sample that you could use for your invitation.

Here is another sample of some wording for a Baby Shower invitation
“Please join us for a Baby Shower honouring the imminent birth of Joseph Lee, The first son of Helen and Kevin Lee.” May 14 2012 @ 2.30pm @ 32 Texas Road, Hokowhitu, Palmerston North. Hosted by Renee and Rosie Lee Please RSVP to 0011642458927 by May 10th Registered at ‘Baby Goodies And More” Please bring a photo of yourself and join in with our games. “Come on and make this a fun day, the more the merrier!”Once you have got your wording sorted out, then you have to think about the way you will put this on paper. Some really good ideas that work well, if you have older children, is to ask them to cut out baby shapes from soft coloured card, big enough to hold all the words. Some examples of good shapes would be a feeding bottle, a bassinet, a bootee, a bib or a teddy bear. Depending on whether a boy or a girl your children could also glue some small pink or blue bows to the card.
On the baby shower invitation it is really nice to include a small verse. Here are some samples:
“Such tiny little hands and feet, Aren’t brand new babies oh so sweet!” “Mothers to be need tender care ‘Cos soon they will hold a baby so dear.” “A baby in the home brings so much love This surely is a gift from above.”You can experiment making up your own verses, or ask someone else to create something special. The possibilities are almost endless.
But one of the main objectives is to create a baby shower invitation card that is unique and reflects the personality of the mother as best you can. Perhaps this may mean adding a small photo of the mother’s favorite flower to the card. Or it could be a photo of her home town and place of birth.
Once you have compiled the wording for the baby shower invitation, and printed it nicely onto the card, added your special decorative touches, now is the time to deliver the invitations. You can do this personally or you can post them or send them electronically. It can be very nice when posting these cards, to include a small fragrance card that has the mother’s favourite perfume sprayed on it. And if these are being delivered in person, how about taking along a lovely big soft teddy bear and use its hands to pass the invitation out. This also adds to the nice baby feel, and brings a smile to everyone’s face. Delivering the invitations electronically is a simple process when you have the right software for the job.
A baby shower means celebrating the birth of a precious child and is a moment that will be remembered for the rest of the mother’s days.
